Emma’s favorite part of working at Big Valley is getting to know every dog that comes through the doors. She loves learning each pup’s unique personality, silly quirks, and what makes them happiest. Comforting nervous dogs with extra love and attention is something she finds especially rewarding, but she also treasures the simple joy of playing in the yards or soaking up snuggles in the kennels—it’s stress relief for her too!

She first joined Big Valley as a summer job before heading back to WSU for her senior year. A friend had told her how fun and welcoming the environment was, and they were absolutely right. After graduating, the first place Emma wanted to return to was Big Valley. The family-like atmosphere, amazing team, and of course, all the sweet pups are what make her love being here every day.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her own dogs, Biene and Duke, taking them for walks when the weather is warm. She also cares for her other animals—including chickens and pigs!—and loves winding down with a good book now that she has more free time after college.
